MY INCREDIBLE JOURNEY -
                                    Peter Dingemans

This book is long awaited and has been penned by our good friend and shipmate Admiral Peter Dingemans.

The book tells his story from his days as a cadet in the Royal Navy right through to his retirement as a Rear Admiral and also includes his time as Captain of HMS INTREPID during the amphibious landings at San Carlos during the Falklands Conflict.

Peter now lives with his wife Faith in the South of England but is still in touch with many of his shipmates and ships company members from HMS Intrepid and he has included some of their own personal memories and stories of their time together.

THE LAUGHING KITBAGS -
                                             Ian Ditch
Another book arriving our our desks this month is this great little number from Ian Ditch.

Laughing kitbags came about because so many people said that I should write a book when I left the Royal Navy about the funnier times. The times you do not get to read about in everyday newspapers! I, like so many others have many a `dit` to tell and I, like many others tell these stories over & over again. Why?, because they are hilarious but most of all, they represent the `hard play` which was expected after `hard work` which was paramount throughout the RN in the 70s and 80s. The `dits` have been written in a way as to have the reader hopefully feeling that he/she was there at the time. At most times throughout the book the content is of an adult nature, verging almost on explicit!! It is though written with passion and truth recounting priceless experiences.

The year of 2005 was the year for commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar and the role of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson, Royal Navy. BERMUDA DAYS -
                                      Peter Broadbent

This book is the sequel to peters other book HMS GANGES DAYS

In 1961 the Royal Navy came up with a brilliant idea: why not take all its rogues, thugs and malcontents and place them on board its flagship, HMS Bermuda, where hard work and continuous exercising would keep them out of trouble? Joining this colourful crew was sixteen-year-old Peter Broadbent, fresh out of his year's training at HMS Ganges, and drafted to 'Bermadoo' to make up the ship's quota of Junior Seamen. Initially he lived a cocooned existence in the Juniors' mess, with a community of cockroaches as his closest companions, but his life changed dramatically the day he transferred to the notorious For'd Seamen's Mess. There, he grew up. In the course of his 34,000 nautical miles with Bermuda, he learned how to ammunition the ship, avoid Pompey Lil, sing the Oggie song, survive a storm, throw a perfect heaving line and count himself proud to be a 'sharp-end seaman'. On his eighteenth birthday, the entire population of Hamilton, Bermuda, along with a uniformed band and full ceremonial, enthusiastically welcomed Peter and his ship; in Stockholm he had a memorable dalliance with a local girl called Gunnel, and in Amsterdam a professional businesswoman at work in Canal Street was so impressed with his performance that, as he took his leave, she shook his hand warmly and gave him some of her business cards.

WHEN I WAS ON THE TARTAR
                                   Mike Payne

Now available online in Kindle friendly format this book is a blast.
mike writes;
Oh yes, 'When I was on the Tartar...'. It's about my time in the mob from 69 to 80, and encompasses my career, from burials at sea, to escorting Britannia. From winding orificers up to ditching Uckers tables. From fighting yanks to 'Malta dog hunts'. Nobody in it is safe - tiffs (spit) are cabbages, dabbers rule (especiallyRPs..). Everyone is equally insulted.

The admirable who did the foreword describes it as 'a valuable piece of social history of the RN in the sixties'...

'Tug' did the cover - I still have his original sketch.
